Acknowledgement from the front that it can be a difficult day for many
Services that include various experiences around mothering/family life, such as adoption, fostering, 'spiritual mothers' within the church, and every believer being a child in God's family.
Allowing people to participate or not as they wish
Leaving any cards/flowers etc in a basket at the back of the church, so that those who want can take one and those who don't can just ignore it.
Keeping it very low key so that people can choose whether or not to celebrate Mother’s Day outside the service.
